Description

The Bell Rock Pathway is a wonderful example of rolling, hardpacked singletrack desert trail, rolling casually northward from the Sedona Area. Starting at Oak Creek, the Bell Rock Pathway meanders into the desert, with impressive vistas of several natural rock monuments along the way.

The Bell Rock Pathway is suitable for all ability levels and is the primary access to a number of excellent side spur trails that delve deeper into the heart of Sedona country. More notable trails that originate from Bell Rock Pathway include the Cathedral Rock Loop and the Submarine Rock Loop. Some trails that spur from Bell Rock do enter wilderness area where it is illegal to have mountain bikes; $300 fines are the norm for riding in a wilderness area so make sure to know where you are going before venturing off the Bell Rock Pathway.

Bell Rock Pathway is a multi-use trail system and riders should be aware of right of way protocol when approaching hikers and other bikers. Remember when riding in the desert to bring a well-stocked repair kit and plenty of water, due to the harsh nature of this environment. Riders should avoid cycling on Route 179 as this is not bike friendly but is rather a high speed and tight roadway with little shoulder.
