Description
The Bolam Pass to Hotel Draw loop accesses part of the Colorado Trail, a 400+ mile trail spanning Colorado. The Bolam Pass to Hotel Draw loop is a fantastic way to explore the mountains surrounding Durango and sample some of the best mountain biking in the area.
From the Bolam Pass-Hotel Draw loop the views of the surrounding San Juan and Wilson Range Mountains is phenomenal and the quality of singletrack is unsurpassed. The Bolam Pass-Hotel Draw loop accesses several Forest Service roadways before meeting with the Blackhawk Pass section of the Colorado Trail, which tops out at 12,000 feet.
Eventually the route winds back to the same trailhead, but not without some serious route finding. A map of the area is essential on this ride and can be easily acquired at a bike shop in Durango.

The Bolam Pass to Hotel Draw Loop is a multi-use trail and hikers, horseback riders and other trail users may be seen along the way. Please be considerate on the trails and understand right of way protocol. The Bolam Pass to Hotel Draw Loop is located in the mountains and the area can experience sudden weather shifts, so riders should bring appropriate warm layers in anticipation of this.

Basic Directions
Take FS 578 from Purgatory. Park at Hermosa Creek Trailhead. Ride up the road toward Bolam, past Graysmill Mine and head left toward Celebration Lake. Turn left onto the Colorado Trail and head over Blackhawk Pass. Stay on Colorado Trail until its intersection with FS 550/564. Take a left on FS 550/564. At the intersection with FS 578 take a right. This will bring riders back to the trailhead. A map is a key ingredient to success on this ride!
