Description
The Estrella Race Loops, located on the outskirts of Phoenix within Estrella Mountain Regional Park, were carved out of the Sonoran Desert by mountain bikers for mountain bikers as competitive race tracks. The trail system is still frequently used for racing but for the majority of the year it is open to recreational riders. The Estrella Race Loops are a perfect fit for high intermediate and advanced riders searching for a challenging venue to hone skills.
The Estrella Race Loops consist of two tracks, a long loop and a technical loop. The long loop offers 8 miles of challenging trail that winds far into the Sonoran Desert, featuring steep climbs, rugged and rocky descents and several sandy sections. The technical loop covers 5 miles of terrain and holds true to its name, with very technical riding for experts only featuring larger rocks, loose and rocky descents and tough climbs. The trails can be combined to form longer rides for visitors with quads of steel.

Additional Details:
There is a daily use fee at Estrella Mountain Regional Park and as a result the trail is rarely busy. The Estrella Race Loops are considered multi-use and horseback riders and trail runners may be seen in addition to other mountain bikers. Please be considerate on the trails and understand right of way protocol. Riders should be in good physical condition, ride with partners especially when unfamiliar with terrain and bring plenty of water when riding in the desert due to the harsh nature of this environment.
