Description
Arizona walnut and live-oaks are interspersed among the ponderosa pines in this boulder strewn campground located within a short drive of the city of Prescott. Lower Wolf Creek Campground is open from May 1 to October 31 each year and a host is available to provide information and assist visitors to find a suitable camping site. The campsites provided are generally large enough to accommodate most recreational vehicles that are not in excess of 40 feet long; however, no hookups or drinking water are available. This campground does not have any water, RV hookups, dump stations or shower facilities.

Each camp site usually accommodates one vehicle towing a camp trailer plus one additional vehicle (there is a charge for additional vehicle). Vehicles must be parked in space provided on site - not along side the road. Depending on the site, trailers between 22 feet to 40 feet in length can be accommodated.Map + Directions
Basic Directions
There are two principal access routes to the campground. Depending upon which route you choose, travel on an unpaved road will range from 1.25 to 5 miles. From Prescott take the Senator Highway (Mt. Vernon Avenue) south for about 6 miles. You will pass the entrance to Goldwater Lake and the community of Groom Creek. The pavement will end about 500 feet before you reach Forest Road 97. Turn right onto FR 97 and travel for another 1.25 miles to the campground on the right of the road. FR 97 is unpaved by is suitable for all vehicles during dry road conditions. An alternate route from Prescott is to take U.S. Highway 89 (White Spar Road) south for about 6 miles to Forest Road 97. Turn left on FR 97 and go for another 5.1 miles on graded dirt road to the campground.
