Description
Robbers Roost trail takes riders high into the Secret Mountains outside Sedona to a large cave hollowed out of a sandstone butte. According to local legend, thieves and others running from the law once used this cave as a hideout.
Along the jeep road up to the Robbers Roost cave, riders will be traveling through red sand covered hills dotted with cacti and yucca. Views are impressive from this jeep road, extending into the Secret Mountain Wilderness Area and the Verde Valley. Though the Robbers Roost road is non-technical, there is a good amount of climbing involved. Potholes, ruts and waterbars become more prevalent as the roadway winds from the trailhead, so riders should be prepared for a small amount of technicality along the way.
